Outdoors we'll be serving Shawarma, our version of the Greek Gyro: fresh marinated chicken OR fresh beef and lamb with spices, roasted and served in pita bread with diced tomatoes, onions and yogurt sauce. The Chicken Shish Kabob -- chicken breast marinated in olive oil, white wine, and spices, served with grilled vegetables, yogurt and pita bread - also is a huge hit, as is the Falafel, our classic Middle Eastern vegetable burger that's made with chick peas, parsley, fava beans, garlic, onions and spices and served in a pita with Tahini (sesame paste) sauce and tomatoes.
When you're ready for dessert, your mouth will water when you see the counters filled with rows of Middle Eastern pastries, from Baklawa, to Maamoul, to Namoura, Ghraybeh, and Macaroons. Interested in trying something different? Try some Atayaf (nut or cheese-filled small pancakes filled with syrup) or Awameh (dough balls fried, then dipped in Arabic rosewater syrup). If you just want some old-fashioned American treats like fudge, brownies, cookies, banana bread or cup cakes, we have those, too. Be sure to pair your dessert with either Middle Eastern or American coffee.
Delicious Middle Eastern food and beverages can be found inside the church hall as well as in the back yard.
In the church hall, choose from a variety of hearty platters or try a little of everything by ordering a la carte. Among the choices are Kibbee (baked ground beef and cracked wheat mixed with spices and stuffed with ground lamb, onions, and pine nuts), M'nezzeleh (baked eggplant stuffed with ground lamb, onions, spices, and pine nuts), Stuffed Grape Leaves, Spinach Pies, Meat Pies, Hummus, Baba Ghannouj, Tabbouleh, Loobyeh (Middle Eastern-style beans), Garden Salad and Rice.
